This series consists of a set of approximately 20 self-portraits of various sizes painted with acrylic or oil paint. Almost all were created based on the reflected image of my body in the mirror, in many cases, my naked body. 

This is my quiet way of speaking out against injustice, and it is as real as I can offer. 

I expose myself willingly thinking about so many women who are daily forced to do the same. I undress voluntarily as a reaction to the times when I did it against me. By choice, I hide behind an irreverent wink towards all established conventions. 

The continuous urge to impress others is well established nowadays through the exaggeration of beauty, happiness or the need for approval, mainly, on social media. In the virtual world, everyone creates their own ideal avatars and in this series my reflections emerge with their actual imperfections. 

I use the self-portrait genre, ever-present in the history of art, to depict the way we are living in isolation, forgetting about space, time and real ties. We will see that there are no specific backgrounds   in the paintings, thus symbolizing individuality, selfishness and loneliness. Vertical format and human scale were chosen with the purpose of bringing self-portraits closer to the viewer´s reality and build more intimacy. 

Watching myself from the surface, I have embarked on a journey during which I have learned that the first step to accept oneself is to know oneself. I have progressed in the journey of self-discovery through art.
