STATEMENT
Concibo el arte como testimonio: como registro de un lugar, un tiempo o una persona. Me adueño de mi reflejo en el espejo y de fotografías prosaicas para resignificarlas.
Incursiono en el género del autorretrato como herramienta de autoconocimiento y sostengo que lo más personal refleja temas tan universales como la autoafirmación, la vulnerabilidad, el egoísmo y la exaltación del yo.
Trabajo con el registro de los instantes, valiéndome de fotografías, del espejo o del modelo natural. Indago en fotos antiguas de parientes lejanos y hasta desconocidos, así lo personal se diluye con lo universal. Resulta ser una obra intimista y algo melancólica que remite al pasado.
I conceive art as testimony, as a record of a place, a time, or a person. I reclaim my reflection in the mirror and mundane photographs to give them new meaning.
I delve into the genre of self-portraiture as a tool for self-knowledge, and I believe that what is most personal reflects themes as universal as self-affirmation, vulnerability, selfishness, and the exaltation of the self.
I work with the recording of moments, using photographs, the mirror, or the natural model. I explore old pictures of distant or even unknown relatives, and in this way, the personal dissolves into the universal. The result is an intimate and somewhat melancholic body of work that evokes the past.
